Herbs that Heal - A poultice-making workshop

  • Chelsea Physic Garden 66 Royal Hospital Road London, England, SW3 4HS United Kingdom (map)

Join me at Chelsea Physic Garden, once known as the Apothecary’s Garden for some historical herbal alchemy.

To coincide with the Chelsea History Festival, I will be delivering a 2-hour workshop on potions and poultice making in the historic Gallery used by Apothecarists ‘of yore.’

We will embark on a mini journey of exploration through key herbs and their therapeutic and historical use in health, hygiene and cosmetic making. There will be dried and fresh aromatic plants to sample and we shall take a leaf from historical texts and recipes from famed herbalists (bald pate paste anyone?) - to inspire your own creative endeavours.

You will be guided to sift, sniff and select your own choice of aromatic herbals to combine for your personalised poultice recipe, with suggestions for use at home and further adaptations to use through the changing seasons ahead.

Fee: £20.00 - inclusive of materials, notes and one bespoke poultice to take home
